Poems for a New Spring by "The Heart of the City" Women's Poetry Collective
A collection of challenging and uplifting poems by eleven indigenous women who call WInnipeg's North End home, focused on their lives and challenges. These poems tell the North End's story in the community's own voice.
This collection of poems is a tribute to Ashlee Shingoose and honors her life. They speak of the love, compassion, and humanity that we must have for one another. They remind us that everyone has a story and that every life matters and is sacred. Ashlee was someone's daughter, someone's fried and a community member, her life mattered, her voice deserved to be heard and that it's now our collective responsibility to build a more compassionate world. To ensure history doesn't repeat itself.
